In the last time it has conducted several studies who was interrogated the causes of pain in fibromyalgia sufferers. It has been proven that the pain does not originate from the brain. This is actually a huge discovery that put an end to the mystery of fibromyalgia.
As you know, fibromyalgia is a condition that affects a large number of people all over the world. Usually it is treated with painkillers. Medical experts think that it is a psychological disorder, but now researchers have found that the fibromyalgia pain is triggered by the blood vessels in the hand.
This information can help in finding new treatments for this condition, which means it may offer promising results for over 5 million Americans.
For this study the scientists tested the skin of the hand of patients with a lack of sensory nerve fibers that led to reduced pain response. In the skin they found a great number of nerve fibers, known as arterioles-venule referrals. The scientists concluded that these fibers are responsible for blood flow regulation. Also with this research they concluded that there is a strong correlation between fibromyalgia pain and these nerves.
This research is so important because it could give an answer to all questions why fibromyalgia patients have pain in their hands as well as why cold weather worsen their symptoms.
According to Dr. Frank L. Rice, a neuroscientist, science previously though that these nerve endings were involved in the regulation of blood flow. What’s more, he also notes that the root cause of fatigue, muscle aches and discomfort could be this poorly regulated blood flow as a result of the lactic acid accumulation and low inflammation in fibromyalgia patients. This, in turn, can contribute to hyperactivity in the brain,” says Dr. Rice.
What Does the Standard Fibromyalgia Treatment Include?
People with this problem have the same treatment and it includes taking anticonvulsants, analgesic, and antidepressants. But this treatment for fibromyalgia hasn’t brought relief to every patient.
For these patients doctors also recommend getting sufficient rest and sleep as well as practicing certain useful exercises on a regular basis.
